Turnitin and RIF Pittsburgh Delivers Books into Kids' Hands at MACS and PPS Weil

RIF Pittsburgh was honored to partner with Turnitin and Reading is Fundamental, Inc., the national organization, on special events in 2025 at two of our schools!

In June, we worked together to put on a book celebration event at Manchester Academic Charter School (MACS) where each student was able to participate in a story time, select 3 books for summer reading, and complete literacy activities with Turnitin volunteers and RIF staff.

This fall, Turnitin's Pittsburgh-based employees held a literacy kit-packing event, creating 100 kits each containing 3 books. In December, Turnitin's Alex Bisceglia attended one our RIF Everybody Wins! Mentoring sessions at Pittsburgh Weil and distributed the kits to mentees while they worked with their Reading Buddies. Students were excited to receive these kits and have a few extra books, in addition to the book they select each month through RIF Everybody Wins!, to read over winter break.

It was a pleasure working with the national organization and Turnitin to host these special events and get more books into kids’ hands this past year. We hope to collaborate on even more special moments in 2026!
