RIF Pittsburgh Joins Pittsburgh King Staff at Conference on Healing-Centered Engagement

West Chester University Conference Supports The H.E.A.L.I.N.G. Project at King

Last month, one of our RIF team members, Jodee Westbrooks, was excited to join teachers and school leaders from Pittsburgh King, as well as other community partners, at the Healing-Centered Engagement and Trauma-Informed Education conference hosted by West Chester University. Jodee gained important insight into the work happening at King through The H.E.A.L.I.N.G Project, a program built to ensure that schools are places of connection, belonging, and safety for both teachers and students.

Later, Jodee was able to share the work happening at King and key insights from different panels with the RIF Pittsburgh team, including the impact of trauma on child development, the importance of emotional regulation and co-regulation with students, and how authentic relationships with caring adults is the foundation of academic success. Thank you, Pittsburgh King, for sharing this opportunity with our team. We feel lucky to work with such dedicated educators and are looking forward to supporting your work this school year!
